Building African Unity Consciousness

Action Steps for Building Black, African, Reparationist, African-American, Muslim, HipHoppas, Christian, Hebrew, Kemetic, Pan-Afrikanist, Nationalist, Moor, Nuwabian, Nubian, Rastafarian, Afro-Descendant Unity

First giving praise, honor and worship to the Most High for the unlimited blessings on the people who brought true hue man civilization to the Universe. Knowing that the human Mother originated in the lands called Africa (Eden) places a very high spiritual calling of those descendants of this Mother. It is our time to turn this world back to its original self. We must work consistently to love, heal and unify unconditional with our brothers and sisters. To live our beliefs and truths and present our true greatness back to the entire world. May the Creator continue to bless you and your loves ones and never give up. One Love.

ACTION > RESULTS OVER RHETORIC

Each individual (YOU) within (MEMBER, SUPPORTER, FRIEND, ASSOCIATE) or without (INDEPENDENT) of any group or organization should have a clearly defined vision of the present and the future with specific tasks and assignments associated with each.

Identifying specific actions, times to be present at community events and programs, and fulfilling specific measurable duties and responsibilities are keys to empowerment and unifying with others both structurally and systematically for short term and long term progress.

NOTE: Those who profess to be the leaders, initiator, convener, or facilitator must make vision, strategic planning and tactic implementation serious aspects of their position and leadership.

COMMITMENT: Those who take on these positions should be able to be evaluated in their progress towards the COMMUNITIES collective goals and objectives on an organizational and community level.

UNITY: The ability to be transparent and fully open is a major cornerstone in building partnerships with other individuals, groups and organizations within the community TO HAVE A GREATER IMPACT.

HOW?: Start with a journal which catalogues your monthly, quarterly and/or yearly goals and objectives with an openness to consent evaluation with periodic reevaluate and reassess of your personal and/or group’s vision and direction.

ACCOUNTABILITY: to ensure real impact on the problems and challenges of the community, your personal as well as group actions must be put in written form for internal and community viewing.

STRATEGIC PLANNING: Each individual (YOU), group or organization should develop a comprehensive information and media outreach campaign to keep the community well-informed and educated to the highest levels about the issues. Key media and information distribution systems should be developed. Person-to-person, telephone, emails, flyers, press releases, street work, having a presence at community events, etc. must be at least 20% OF TIME AND RESOURCES because knowledge and information are critical aspects of empowerment.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: As a “Leader”, “Initiator”, “Convener”, “Facilitator”, “Visionary”-- be attentive to each person’s motivations and needs towards selecting your group or organization to be involved and committed. Make sure you advocate that each individual, including yourself, take quality time to bond and heal with their family, friends, partners, associates, etc. Healing is a key component of any long term community organizing and empowerment.
ACTION ITEMS: Prayers, mediation, call to ancestors, expression of love by embracing each other; men and women, congratulating students and youth, establish ancestral alter, reading and writing, spiritual and uplifting media (music, visual, magazines) etc. are very important to the spiritual, emotional and physical healing frameworks needed to build solid unity and empowerment communities.

ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE: Being a self-organized individual also gives unity more bangs for the effort. When you get involved with others, ask that the agenda, program, event, project, gathering have a serious and enduring focus and to ensure specific results at its conclusion.

TASKS: (1) Be apart of mapping out the agenda and logistics of programs, meetings, gatherings, events, etc well in advance so that measurable progress and direct action can result.
(2) Make sure everyone involved knows the agenda for the day. Be as accurate as possible.
(3) Personal contacts are a critical aspect of being self-organized. Find ways to record and manage your contacts. When you get business cards, phone numbers, etc. make sure you record where, when and under what situation you connected with the person.
MOST IMPORTANT: FOLLOW UP AND FOLLOW THROUGH. Our moral strength has always and will always be our most effective and powerful tool of real empowerment and change for our people. Being about honor, stand by your word, being honest and forthright, and committed will never go out of style.

HUMILITY: Real unity takes building a collective consciousness. Each soul is important and of value. Remember order is the first law of the Universe. There can be no unity unless order is the foundation PERIOD.

It is very important to keep the community at-large informed of all your activities and initiatives well enough in advance so that they can properly plan themselves to have impact and input.

UNSELFISHNESS: Look at CONNECTING WITH groups and organizations outside your own political, social, economic or religious views. A key aspect of unity is to show that you are willing to reach out unconditionally to others. African people are a very diverse people and cover many different aspects of life and living, however, a unity framework must respect all those who take their time and resources to do the work that is important to them. As we might think that some of us are misguided, misdirected or miseducated, we are still our brother and sisters keepers.

IMAGE IS ALMOST EVERYTHING: Look at your image and visual presentation to the community. African people are very visual. Let’s take the time to develop and create positive and affirming images and wording. Let’s stay away from negative affirmations, actions, interactions, partnerships, relationships, etc. Ensure yourself that you are doing the most to be a uplifting spirit to all those who come in contact with you. We as a people spend too much time on the negative aspects of situations. Let solutions and actions be at the forefront of your unity framework.

MOTTO: In closing, when spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.
