BET Does Not Represent Me (Video)

Peace, I know this is a rather unorthodox way to post my very topic on this network, but I'm on a mission to speak on things I feel is important and I'm doing it the very best way I know how; through creativity. Ok-Waiting patiently for Part 2 where you get down with specifics. I don't watch TV at all. When I did I did not like BET because they evidently hired a butcher to edit the movies they broadcast. Who else could cut up a film as if they work for Church's Chicken's "cut up the chicken into unrecognizable parts" department for their "real job". As soon as I have YouTube send me my password (again) I will rate your video. It will be good even though I would have liked a more in depth analysis of why you think BET is BAD. I am here to support my brothers one good looking (or not) black man at a time:). It's a tough job but some sistahs gotta do it!

It basically comes down to this: BET which stands for Black Entertainment Television is notorious for what I like to call the SAMBOization of people of color in the United States of America. The majority of programming on BET revolves around COONery, gross ignorance and total disrespect for the majority of African Americans in the United States of America who are hardworking decent law abiding citizens. Instead of celebrating the more positive aspects of Black people it concentrates the negative influences of those who glorify a criminal lifestyle or plain stupidity. BET is enforcing powerfully negative stereotypes of African Americans.

It's absolutely disgusting that they are allowed to get away with this shameful depiction of Black America and I'm hoping my video amongst videos by other people will begin the dialog needed for people to start taking action as in CLASS ACTION. It's time people get together and fight MTV Networks who control what people worldwide see on BET on the legal frontier. What most Black people fail to realize is the majority of BET viewers are not African Americans so when they see these harmful images it's no wonder why we are still not respected as we all should be as human beings.

Sending out a false, racist motivated image of the African American has to be one of the longest running campaigns in the United States. Consider the fact that during WW2, the United States dropped leaflets over areas of France warning the populations not to fraternize with the Black soldiers. Unfortunately, it is not just the United States. China has produced more products depicting African Americans as ugly and ridiculous than the United States may have.

I tell you, Brother, this is an ongoing battle. I used to watch Amos 'n Andy on television and prior to that I heard the radio version which was actually two white men portraying their version of Black men! I could never relate to that show because I never knew or saw any black people who acted like that.

I appreciate what you and others are doing to combat this continuing racist campaign against African Americans. There is so much that is not known about us as a people and the damage done to us collectively by the negative images propagated by BET/MTV is devastating. It gives us a negative image globally, a fact which is mind boggling.
